Communication

Sendbird

Sendbird runs the chat inside other people's apps — users, group conversations and public rooms, all scoped to one Sendbird application.

Authentication

  • API token

Actions

Generic API request. Call any Sendbird API endpoint on this connection, for the case where no shipped action covers it yet. The connection supplies the base URL, the authentication and the egress route, so only the path, query and body are yours to fill.

  • Get userRead one chat user's profile by their Sendbird user id - nickname, profileurl and whether the account isactive - e.g. to render a sender's name and avatar next to a message, or to confirm a user exists before adding them to a channel.
  • List group channelsList the private group channels in the application - the 1:1 and small-group conversations, as opposed to the public rooms List open channels returns.
  • List open channelsList the public open channels in the application - rooms anyone can join, as opposed to the private conversations List group channels returns.
  • List usersList the chat users registered in the application, to audit the roster or find the userid that Get user and channel membership calls take.
  • Send bot messageSend a text message into a group channel as a bot - an answer, a notification, an alert - so it shows under the bot's name rather than a person's.
  • Start typing indicatorsShow up to ten users - a bot answering, say - as typing in a group channel, so its members see that a reply is on the way.
