  • Chat app (service account)

Actions

Generic API request. Call any Google Chat API endpoint on this connection, for the case where no shipped action covers it yet. The connection supplies the base URL, the authentication and the egress route, so only the path, query and body are yours to fill.

  • Add memberAdd a person, a Google Group or the calling Chat app to a space.
  • Add reactionReact to a message with an emoji — the lightweight acknowledgement that avoids posting a whole reply.
  • Complete space importDestructiveFinish a data migration: take a space that was created in import mode, close the import and make it visible to its members.
  • Create sectionCreate a custom section in the connected account's Chat navigation panel, so spaces can be grouped by project, client or urgency instead of one flat list.
  • Create spaceCreate a new named Chat space and put the connected account in it as the first member.
  • Delete custom emojiDestructivePermanently delete a custom emoji from the organisation.
  • Delete messageDestructiveDelete one message.
  • Delete sectionDestructiveDelete a custom section from the connected account's navigation panel.
  • Delete spaceDestructivePermanently delete a named space.
  • Edit messageDestructiveEdit a message that has already been posted — change its text, its cards, or remove a quoted message.
  • Find direct messageLook up the existing 1:1 direct-message space between the connected account and one other person, so you can post into it.
  • Find group chatsFind the unnamed group chats whose human members are exactly the connected account plus the people you list — the group-chat counterpart of Find direct message.
  • Get attachment metadataRead the metadata of a file attached to a message: its display name, content type, source and the references used to fetch it — a Drive file id for a Drive attachment, or a media resource name for an uploaded one.
  • Get availabilityRead whether the connected account is currently active, idle, away or on do-not-disturb, together with any custom status text and emoji it has set.
  • Get custom emojiRead one custom emoji: its shortcode, its uid and a short-lived image URL.
  • Get memberRead one membership: who it is, whether they are a member or a space manager, whether they have actually joined or are still invited, and whether they are internal or external to the organisation.
  • Get messageRead one message by resource name — its text, sender, timestamps, thread, attachments, annotations and reaction summary.
  • Get spaceRead one Chat space by resource name: its display name, type, description and guidelines, history and threading state, access settings and member counts.
  • Get space eventRe-read one event from a space by resource name.
  • Get space notification settingRead how noisy a space is for the connected account: which activity notifies them, and whether the space is muted outright.
  • Get space read stateRead how far the connected account has read in a space: a single lastReadTime you compare against message create times to work out what is unread.
  • Get thread read stateRead how far the connected account has read inside one thread.
  • List custom emojisList the organisation's custom emoji that the connected account can see.
  • List membersList who is in a space — people, Google Groups and Chat apps — with each one's role, state and joined time.
  • List messagesRead the messages in one space, oldest first by default.
  • List pinned messagesList the pins in a space.
  • List reactionsList the individual reactions on a message — one entry per person per emoji, with the reaction's own resource name, which is what Remove reaction takes.
  • List section itemsList what is filed under a section of the connected account's navigation panel.
  • List sectionsList the sections the connected account uses to organise its Chat navigation panel — the three built-in ones (direct messages, spaces, apps) plus any custom sections.
  • List space eventsRead what has happened in a space over a time window — messages posted, edited or deleted, members added or removed, reactions added or removed.
  • List spacesList the Chat spaces the connected account is a member of — named spaces, group chats and direct messages alike.
  • Mark as activeDestructiveSet the connected account's Chat presence to ACTIVE until an expiry you choose, after which it falls back to AWAY.
  • Mark as awayDestructiveSet the connected account's Chat presence to AWAY.
  • Mark as do not disturbDestructiveSilence the connected account in Chat until an expiry you choose.
  • Move section itemDestructiveMove a space from one section of the connected account's navigation panel to another — how a space actually gets filed under a custom section after Create section made an empty one.
  • Pin messagePin a message to the top of its space so members can find it without scrolling — the API equivalent of Chat's own pin action, useful for an incident's status message or a rota.
  • Remove memberDestructiveRemove a person, a Google Group or the calling Chat app from a space.

  • Unpin messageDestructiveRemove a pin from a space.

Triggers

  • Message to the Chat appStarts the instant someone messages your Google Chat app - in a direct message with it, or by @-mentioning it in a space - delivered to the app's HTTP endpoint.
  • Messages to the Chat appAnswers as an agent in Google Chat: when someone messages your Chat app directly, or @-mentions it in a space, the agent replies as the app in that conversation or thread.
  • New messageStarts when someone posts a new message in the selected Google Chat space.
  • New space eventStarts when something selected happens in a Google Chat space — a message posted, edited or deleted, a member added or removed, a reaction added or removed.
