Discourse is forum software: categories hold topics, topics hold posts.

Generic API request. Call any Discourse API endpoint on this connection, for the case where no shipped action covers it yet. The connection supplies the base URL, the authentication and the egress route, so only the path, query and body are yours to fill.

  • Create postReply to an existing topic by creating a post in it, optionally answering one post of the topic by its post number (POST /posts.json).
  • Create topicStart a new topic by creating its first post with a title (POST /posts.json).
  • Get category topicsList topics within a category by its slug and id (GET /c/{categorySlug}/{categoryId}.json).
  • Get postFetch one Discourse post by its numeric id, to read the current body and metadata before editing it or quoting it elsewhere.
  • Get topicFetch a single topic and its posts by topic id (GET /t/{topicId}.json).
  • Get userFetch a user's public profile by username (GET /u/{username}.json).

  • List categoriesList the categories of the Discourse forum, to resolve the category id a new topic must be filed under and to see how the forum is organised.
  • List latest postsList the most recent posts across the whole forum, newest first — the only Discourse endpoint that enumerates posts without going through a topic, so it is how you resolve the post id that Get post and Update post take.
  • List latest topicsList the most recent topics on the forum, optionally ordered and paged (GET /latest.json).
  • SearchFull-text search across the forum for topics, posts, and users (GET /search.json).
  • Update postDestructiveEdit the body of an existing Discourse post.

Triggers

  • Forum topicsAnswers as an agent on a Discourse forum: when someone mentions the connection's user in a post — or, if you choose, opens any new topic — the agent replies in that topic, and later posts in it continue the conversation.
  • New postStarts when a new post is published anywhere on the Discourse forum, detected by polling the latest posts feed.
  • New topicStarts when a new topic is created anywhere on the Discourse forum, detected by polling the latest topics feed.
  • Post created (webhook)Starts immediately when Discourse delivers a postcreated webhook event, instead of waiting for the next poll of the latest posts feed.
